This is a kid sized hat, done all in double crochet with a single crochet white trim.

This one is preemie sized.

Bikini

I might've been able to wear this when I was ten, but I made this for a cute little twenty-something gal who filled it out better than I ever could.

Felt Book

I had a little more detail in this book than I did in the previous one, probably because I had a little more time to put this one together. It'll be nice to make a book for a baby with a shorter name sometime.

Watermelon Hat

Camel Hat

This is the first time I've worked a pattern like this, and I'd do things differently when/if I attempt it again. I carried the brown yarn over from camel to camel, and my stitching got too tight...so tight it wouldn't fit on my daughter's head. I wound up cutting the tight lengths of yarn on the inside, hoping that it would provide a little more 'give' and wouldn't start to unravel the camels if I applied some glue to the cut ends. That was semi-successful. I think I'd do the entire hat in single crochet next time so that my stitches would be more consistent throughout. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be...it just required a little more thought than I wanted to give while I watched American Idol.

Cowboy Hat

I did this a long time ago. I know that I didn't have a pattern, used two colors of yarn at once, and it's double crochet. Other than that I don't know how I made it.

Chihuahua #2

This one has larger eyes, and a head so big that I had to have him seated, otherwise he would tilt forward onto his nose. It's the same pattern as my previous chihuahua.

Blue Wig

I found this site for making a yarn wig. It involved bundles of yarn tied to a crocheted yarn hat. It didn't really work too well for me, so I wound up crocheting a basic hat, then taking apart the bundles and re-attaching them in smaller sections. I started at the crown and created a center part, then added bangs and filled in wherever I noticed blank spots.

Pink purse

Crocheted pink purse with a braided belt used as the strap. I did this awhile ago, but I'm pretty sure it was a Ferragamo bag type pattern I used.

Jury Duty Hat

I started this while I sat in the holding room for jury duty. I got through 2/3 of it before my name was called for a "special trial" that starts next month, and might last for twenty days. It's a basic double crochet in lime green with single crochet in dark blue. A single crochet brim is added at the end. And no, the hat isn't misshapen, but my head apparently is!

How Hard Did You Look?

Got one of those "Sorry We Missed You" notes in my mailbox today. That's interesting because I was sitting on my front porch watching as the notice was put into the mailbox at the curb not fifty feet away from me. Don't you have to try to find someone before you can miss them?

We found him on the tennis court. Posed him for a photo op, then released him into some bushes.

Approximately 36" x 36". The stitch is called tulip and works up quickly: pretty much 1 sc, 3 ch, 3 dc, all of which are worked into the previous 3ch(s) from the previous row.

I was doing laundry late one afternoon at the hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, As I was hanging socks and underwear on my homemade rubberband clothesline on the balcony outside, I noticed this cloud. 'The fog must roll in from the Red Sea', I thought, 'much like it does every afternoon in San Francisco'. When the fog enveloped me, I realized that it was the insecticide that the hotel sprayed every day.

Koshary

Koshary at Ali Baba's restaurant in Aswan. Koshary is a mix of rice, lentils, garbanzos, macaroni, fried onions, and a tomato-y sauce. Additional toppings are optional. I like a lot of fried onions i mine. The bowl of koshary in the photo cost about $1.25. 14 of us ate here for a grand total of $31 U.S.
